HTC U12 Life reveal set for next week

HTC delivered its flagship device for 2018 – the U12+ – a few months back, but it isn't quite done with new phone releases. Today, HTC set the date of another reveal, and it's only a week away. While we don't know for sure which phone HTC will debut, it's likely that it's the rumored U12 Life.

It's a safe assumption in part because the teaser HTC shared on Twitter straight up tells us that this will be a new device in the U series. With the HTC U12+ taking care of the high-end, it's likely that this'll be a mid-range phone, and considering what we've heard about the U12 Life so far, it seems to fit the bill perfectly.

It was only last month that a nearly-complete list of specs for the U12 Life leaked out. According to that leak, the phone will ship with a Snapdragon 636 CPU; a 6-inch, 2160×1080 display; 4GB of RAM; 64GB of storage; and finally, a dual camera with 16MP and 5MP sensors. In other words, it's a device that's firmly in the mid-range, so we can expect it to be priced a fair bit lower than the U12+.

One standout feature could very well be the phone's battery. Last month's leak claims that we'll see a 3,600mAh battery in the device, which is a significant upgrade over the battery we got in the U11 Life. When you consider the mid-range hardware that battery will be powering, it has the potential to last a long time, which of course is something that we always love to see.

Obviously, HTC could always surprise us by revealing something other than the U12 Life, but at this point, that doesn't seem all that likely. We'll find out soon enough, as HTC invites to see what happens when "beauty and power meet" on August 30, 2018. We'll have all the details from that announcement right here at SlashGear, so check back here for more.
