HP Stream 11 Windows laptop now available

Last last month HP rolled the red carpet out for its new colorful — and more importantly, cheap — Stream laptops. Their appeal is multi-fauceted, and though they aren't the most powerful machines out there, the mixture of a sub-$200 price tag and the inclusion of Windows 8.1 makes the HP Stream 11, in particular, a milestone machine for the company. When it was announced, HP stayed quiet on the laptop's launch date, and now about a month later it has quietly changed the machine's status to "available".

The HP Stream 11 is priced at $199.99 USD, which technically brings it into the sub-$200 price range, though only offset by a penny. It features an 11.6-inch screen with the common and mediocre resolution of 1366 x 768. The overall machine size, meanwhile, is 11.8 x 8.1 x 0.8-inches, and it weighs a svelte 2.8lbs.

There's an unspecified dual-core processor under the hood alongside Intel HD Graphics, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. Everything is pretty standard down the list: connectivity includes Bluetooth and 802.11 b/g/n WiFi; there's a port each for USB 2.0 and 3.0; an SD card reader; and, of course, an HD webcam.

Other notable features include DTS Sound+, an HP Imagepad, and the inclusion of a year of Microsoft Office 365 Personal and 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage. This machine is joined by slightly larger and pricier 13-inch and 14-inch models, as well.
