HP Compaq dc7800 Now Shipping With SSD Option
This is HPs first business desktop to offer SSD as a hard drive replacement option. They won't be shipping until the middle of February, but if you can wait, you can get a 32GB SSD drive for a mere $529 premium.
Considering you can buy your own 32GB SSD drive off the internet for under $200 a 3x markup is a hell of a jack. The computer model is from the ultra-slim Compaq line and with the SSD its costs a total of $1258, without the SSD, it's a much fairer $729.
The basic config of the system includes a 2GHz C2D processor, a 1GB NAND flash module, 1GB of DDR2, and a DVD-ROM drive, that is what costs $729, the current max price is $1059 and ups the processor to a C2D 6550, 2 gigs of RAM, a DVD burner and a 160GB HDD. Seriously, what the hell is HP thinking? First the overly high priced mobile thin client that weighs way to much for what it holds and then this, what's the deal?
