HP Announces New MediaSmart Home Servers, Desktops and Monitors

It's not all premium ultraportables and new netbooks from HP's holiday line-up.  Elsewhere there's a pair of new MediaSmart Home Servers, the EX490 and EX495, together with a compact home all-in-one, the HP MS200.  Finally business users have the new HP Compaq 6000 Pro and 6005 Pro desktops and various new HP and Compaq LCD displays to choose from.  More details after the cut.

For home users, HP have announced a pair of new MediaSmart Servers, the EX490 – which is based on a Celeron CPU, packs 1TB of storage and starts from $549 – and the EX495 – which uses a Pentium Dual Core CPU, has 1.5TB and starts from $699.  Both run Windows Home Server and are Windows and Mac compatible; they not only handle backups but stream multimedia content too, with a new HP Video Converter that automatically changes video content – including unprotected DVDs – into formats suitable for home and remote streaming.  Each can be outfitted with up to 7TB of internal storage (with a further 10TB of external drives also supported).

The HP MS200 All-In-One, meanwhile, can be installed with just a single power cord, and uses AMD's Athlon dual-core CPU with optional NVIDIA 10M 512MB and standard WiFi b/g.  There's an 18.5-inch 16:9 LCD with tilt and swivel support, together with a DVD burner, and when it goes on sale from October 18th – running Windows 7 Home Premium – it will be priced from $599.

Two new HP Compaq business desktops are also in the line-up, the 6000 Pro and 6005 Pro, based on Intel and AMD CPUs respectively.  They start from $550.  Finally, HP have a range of new self-branded and Compaq branded LCD displays, starting at $190, and spanning 17- to 24-inches.
