Honda expands recall over faulty Takata airbags

Honda, which has already been particularly hard hit over the Takata airbags fiasco, has expanded its recall over the issue, adding 1,252 of its 2015 Crosstour vehicles to the list. In this case, it is the side air bag that could potentially be faulty, leading to possible injuries in the event it deploys improperly during a wreck. According to the NHTSA, the air bag might not inflate to the proper level due to inflator tube issues; fortunately, the auto maker isn't aware of any injuries that have resulted from this potential issue.

As with other recalls, Honda will notify owners of the recalled Crosstour vehicles in the near future, at which point an appointment can be made with a dealership for a free repair. Those who don't want to wait for the letters can also check out Honda's recall website to see if their vehicle is covered under it.

The recall follows a short while after the NHTSA demanded auto makers recall all vehicles with the potentially faulty Takata airbags across the nation — something that expands upon previous limited regional recalls that focused on areas with consistently high humidity levels.

This past Wednesday, Takata revealed its President and COO Stefan Stocker was resigning from his positions, with the company's CEO and Chairman Shigehisa Takada taking over. According to the Wall Street Journal, Takada is the grandson of Takata's founder.
