Here's What Overwatch's Newest Healer Baptiste Can Do
Well that didn't take very long: shortly after revealing Overwatch's 30th hero, Baptiste, with an origin trailer, Blizzard has revealed what he's actually capable of. As his origin story suggested, Baptiste is a support hero and will be joining the likes of Mercy, Ana, Brigette, and Moira. He isn't all about healing, however, as he can enable his team when it comes to dishing out damage.
In battle, Baptiste uses a Biotic Launcher, which fires a three-round burst of bullets at enemies. The Biotic Launcher has an alternate fire mode that allows Baptiste to fire a healing projectile at his teammates, healing in an area around the point of impact.

His first ability is called Regenerative Burst, and it does pretty much what it says on the tin. Using it will create an area of effect burst of healing centered on Baptiste, healing him and nearby teammates over time. His second ability is called Immortality Field, and it allows him to create a zone that protects any ally who steps into it from death. Keep in mind that it doesn't make allies invulnerable until they've lost most of their health, so they'll need quick healing if they step inside. The field generator can be destroyed as well, so be sure to protect it if it's keeping teammates alive.
Baptiste's ultimate is called Amplification Matrix, and it increases the damage and the healing properties of projectiles that pass through it. That means he can shoot his own healing projectiles through it for massive burst healing, or you can put it up in front of your teammates to unleash a lot of damage on approaching enemies in a short amount of time.
Baptiste's kit sounds pretty powerful, but he's got one more quirk to him thanks to his pair of Exo Boots, which allow him to jump higher if he crouches right before he leaves the ground. If Baptiste sounds like a hero you want to check out, then good news: he's available on the Overwatch PTR right now. We'll be keeping an eye out for news of his arrival on live servers, but in the meantime, head down to the comments section and tell us what you think of Overwatch's newest healer.
