Hearthstone gets new Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion next week

Developer Blizzard has finally announced the release date for the new Hearthstone expansion, Knights of the Frozen Throne, and the good news for fans of the digital card-based game is that they won't have long to wait. Packed full of new features and cards, the expansion will be available for download next week, on Thursday, August 10th.

In keeping with Blizzard tradition, Hearthstone: Knights of the Frozen Throne draws themes and locations from the developer's other titles, and this time it's Warcraft's Lich King and the Frozen Throne. The expansion adds 135 new cards to the game, as well as new single-player PvE missions for free.

These missions include a prologue, which will reward players with a random Legendary Hero card after completing, as well as boss fights and an epic battle against the Lich King himself. Once players finish all these missions, they'll be given a free card pack.

Among all the new cards are a new type called "hero cards," which are legendary cards for each class, and will turn heroes into their death knight version with new abilities. For those players who more than ready to put their money down, Blizzard is running a special pre-order deal where they get 50 Frozen Throne card packs for a discounted price of $50, albeit limited to one per account.
