HDC-SDX1 is world's lightest full HD consumer camcorder that doubles as video chat webcam

Panasonic has pulled the wraps off another new camcorder that can act as a webcam and records video in full HD resolution. The company claims that the HDC-SDX1 is the world's lightest consumer camcorder that has full HD resolution and can be used as a webcam for video chat.

The camera weighs 0.41 pounds making it very light indeed. The lens of the cam is a 35.8mm wide-angle unit and it has 23x intelligent zoom with the capability of being used for video calls with Skype. Other features include hybrid optical image stabilization with both optical and electric stabilization.

The SDX1 has an auto focus and auto exposure tracking system to allow it to lock onto subjects and adjust optimally to keep them clear in video. The lock function is activated by touching the 2.7-inch LCD screen. Weight is 229 grams for the camera, battery, and the SD card. The MSRP for the SDX1 will be $499.95 and it will ship in September.
