HD Videos Download Service Gains Blu-Ray Recording In Japan
Look ma, it's not fair; they got all the Blu-ray recorders in the world and now gaining permission to export downloaded HD contents directly onto Blu-ray recordable disk at its full extent. A Japan-based Tsutaya online Corp will soon become the first videos content service provider in the world to enable Blu-ray Disk recording of its library of 412 movies and TV shows. Half of its including dub HDTV contents from US favorite shows like Heroes, Desperate Housewires, Lost, Cloverfield, No Country for Old man etc. Videos will be encoded in 1080i MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 with VBR compression rate up to 20Mpbs.
Contents are exportable to compatible Blu-ray Disc, DVD-R DL (AVCREC) and iVDR-S media without down-converting and are DRMed with AACS and SAFIA. Purchase content will be granted with indefinite viewing period and can be only copied twice to achieved media. Rental content, however, are time-sensitive and exporting will not be permitted. Future plan will allow re-sized HD content records in flash-based memory storages such as SD memory cards or memory sticks Pro.
The company will launch its HDTV video download service in Japan coming this December the 19th, and will integrate its download and streaming services though couple of portal sites.
