Roku’s set-top boxes have always made convenience their primary lure, and in that sense the Roku Express 4K+ is no different. Still a tiny piece of hardware scaled to hide behind your TV – and with a sticky mounting pad to help with that – the $39.99 streaming box comes with all the cables you need to get started. It also includes Roku’s new voice remote.
That has dedicated buttons to control TV power, volume, and mute. It also gets shortcut keys to some of the more popular streaming services. The rest are accessed through Roku’s easily-navigated homescreen, revamped with Roku OS 10.
Among the Roku Express 4K+’s charms is the introduction of HDR10+ support. There’s also WiFi 802.11ac and easier configuration for both different TV types and finding the right WiFi network for the best connection. On the downside, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are conspicuous by their absence.
