Polestar 2 Gallery

Polestar promised something special for its first all-electric model, and the Polestar 2 delivers. The striking new 5-door fastback arrives in early 2020 with the Tesla Model 3 in its sights, and the expectation of 275 miles of range on the US EPA cycle under its belt. Twin electric motors will deliver all-wheel drive and 408 horsepower.

Torque will be 487 lb-ft, Polestar says, enough to trim the 0-62 mph time to under 5 seconds. It's based on Volvo's Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform, but keeps the distinctive looks with key Polestar styling elements like the panoramic glass roof, illuminated logo, and frameless side mirrors. A Performance Pack adds Öhlins dampers and Brembo brakes, along with 20-inch forged wheels and gold trim.

Inside, there's a vegan interior with technical fabrics instead of leather, along with a new infotainment system. Based on Android, the 11-inch touchscreen features the Google Assistant and Google Maps, along with Google Play Store access. Polestar 2 production kicks off in early 2020, and for the first twelve months the automaker will offer a Launch Edition priced at $63,000 in the US before incentives.
