Lexus LF-1 Limitless Concept Gallery

If the Detroit Auto Show 2018 has been dominated by truck news, leave it to Lexus to bring a seductive luxury crossover concept to the stage. The Lexus LF-1 Limitless Concept is the Japanese automaker's vision of what the modern crossover – with a little station wagon thrown in – should be, embracing a variety of powertrain options from gas, through hybrid, to fuel-cell and all-electric in the process. Meanwhile, it's a more distinctive and aggressive interpretation of the brand's evolving design language.

That includes a sizable grille that reaches even further into the front fascia of the car. It's now edges with LED lights, rather than the traditional chrome, and sits at the front of a long and flowing hood that pushes the cabin back in the wheelbase. 22-inch wheels and an unusual split-spoiler keep things interesting.

Inside, there are four seats and motion-operated controls. Lexus has embedded LEDs in the wood trim, shining out through tiny notches cut into the wood, and there are plenty of displays as well as a 4D navigation system that promises to pre-empt your needs along the route.
