Kensington StudioDock Gallery

If you've made the transition from laptop to iPad as your primary computer of choice, you may find yourself in dongle hell. While recent generations of iPad Pro and iPad Air have finally embraced USB-C, actually hooking up multiple peripherals can lead to a rats' nest of cables and adapters. Kensington's StudioDock aims to fix that, and make the tablet more ergonomically pleasing too.

There are two versions of the docking station, one for the iPad Pro 11-inch and iPad Air (2020), the other for the larger iPad Pro 12.9-inch. Both have the same sturdy metal base, and the same array of ports. Four USB – three Type-A and one Type-C – plus an SD card reader, 3.5mm audio jack, gigabit ethernet, and HDMI output. The latter can support up to 4K screens at 60Hz.

Two Qi wireless charging pads are on the front edge, intended for your iPhone and AirPods, but working with any device that's Qi-compliant. The iPad, meanwhile, charges at 37.5W, and the cradle is designed to support it in both portrait and landscape orientation, and leave the rear camera unobstructed. It's priced from $380-400 depending on which iPad model you have.
