Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 Gallery

There are supercars, there are hypercars, and then there's a car by Gordon Murray. Not for nothing has the British engineer and designer built a reputation for automotive greatness; after all, it was his obsession with detail that produced the McLaren F1. Now, Gordon Murray Automotive has a new hypercar, the T.50, and it promises to be even more dramatic.

Like the F1 it's a three-seater, with the driver sitting centrally. Dihedral doors and a minimalistic cabin keep the focus on the engineering and analog controls. Behind is a custom Cosworth V12 naturally-aspirated engine, matched to a six-speed manual transmission. GMA uses a natural supercharger system, which forces air into the engine for 654 horsepower and 344 lb-ft of torque. The redline is a crazy 12,100 rpm.

The T.50 may be a purist's hypercar, but that's not to say it's low-tech. The aerodynamic system uses a huge rear fan to effectively suck the car to the road, significantly boosting downforce – or, optionally, reducing it for maximum pace. Only 100 people will get to enjoy ownership, each spending $3m.
