Polestar 2 is adding some family members, with the Launch Edition being joined by a new, single motor version. There’s also a more attainable Polestar 2 dual motor, which shits some of the Launch Edition’s standard features onto the options sheet in return for the promise of a more affordable price tag. All keep the same fastback body style and 78 kWh battery.
For the 2022 Polestar 2 single motor, that’s now driving a 231 horsepower motor. Polestar expects the car to do around 260 miles on the EPA test cycle. With an optional Plus Pack, which includes a heat pump, that could rise by 10-percent depending on environmental conditions.
The more affordable Polestar 2 dual motor, meanwhile, is expected to have an EPA range of 240 miles, or roughly 10-percent more with the Plus Pack’s heat pump. Standard on all models is Android Automotive OS, running on an 11-inch center touchscreen and a 12.3-inch driver display. The single-motor version of the EV will arrive in North America by the end of 2021.
