2021 Lucid Air Gallery

Lucid Motors jumped into the EV space with a splash back in 2016, promising range, performance, and luxury to shame not only key rival Tesla, but auto industry stalwarts like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Porsche too. It'll take until 2021 before the first example of what the startup has in mind to actually arrive, though. That'll be the 2021 Lucid Air, a luxury sedan and the first step of Lucid's plan of a full, fully-electric range.

The Air certainly isn't lacking in bold specs. As much as 1,080 hp from its dual motors, and up to 517 miles of EPA-estimated range from its extended battery pack. Inside, there's the promise of the space of a full-sized luxury sedan in the overall footprint of a much smaller model, courtesy of the packaging possibilities when you don't have to accommodate a traditional gas engine and drivetrain.

A big, sweeping digital cockpit display gives some visual glamour, with milled and knurled controls along with a slide-out center console touchscreen. For the maximum features you'll want the first 2021 Air Dream Edition cars, a limited-run of maxed-out sedans with a heady pre-incentive price tag of $169,000. Over time, Lucid says, it aims to have sub-$80k Air trims on the market, though by then you're looking at sometime in 2022.
