How do you improve a fan-favorite like the BMW M2? For the 2020 M2 CS Coupe the answer is actually fairly easy: give it more power, trim the weight, add a trick rear differential and adaptive suspension, and make it even more exclusive. Set to arrive in depressingly limited numbers from March 2020, it's the hottest road-bound M2 version yet.

The 3.0-liter twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine has been revamped, now good for 444 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, BMW estimates. 0-60 arrives in 4.0 seconds in the standard, 6-speed manual car; that drops to 3.8 seconds with the optional 7-speed DCT. It should sound better with a new exhaust system, while a standard Active M Differential and Adaptive M suspension should assist with getting traction to the road and keeping the ride engaging.

Lightweight CFRP body parts are optional, both lowering curb weight and the M2 CS Coupe's center of gravity, while inside there's new trim. Now for the downside. BMW says that it'll only be making the 2020 M2 CS Coupe for a single model year, with production capped at just 2,200 cars.
