2019 VW Jetta GLI Gallery

Volkswagen's Jetta GLI is back, and 2019 brings the engine of the latest Golf GTI and technology culled from the best-selling performance hatchback and its Golf R sibling. That means 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, routed through the front wheels. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard to keep the purists happy, while a 7-speed DSG automatic is an option.

Independent sport suspension and the same 13.4-inch ventilated front disc brakes as the Golf GTI are standard, plus the VAQ electronically controlled, torque sensing limited-slip differential. The 2019 Jetta GLI 35th Anniversary trim will get DCC adaptive damping. Inside, there are heated seats and dual-zone climate control as standard, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Options include a 400 watt Beats Audio system, Volkswagen Car-Net connected car service, and remote start, among other things. Blind spot warnings, rear traffic alerts, and autonomous emergency braking are standard. Sales will kick off in Spring 2019.
