2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS Gallery

When you start a whole new segment yourself, there's no small amount of attention when you announce a new model. So goes the reception for the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS, the third-generation of the car that started the "four-door coupe" concept. Unveiled today at the LA Auto Show 2017, it can now seat five and has borrowed tech from the S-Class and E-Class.

Under the hood, there's an all-new 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. That's paired with a 48 volt electrical system and an EQ Boost electric motor. Not only can that allow the car to "sail" for better fuel economy, and act as a generator for recharging the battery, over short periods it can give a significant boost to both horsepower and torque.

Inside, there's a new cabin with the twin displays of the S-Class as an option. Multi-color LED lighting and Burmester audio are options, and there's now space for three in the back. It'll arrive in US dealerships come Fall 2018.
