A Lamborghini SUV may sound like a contradiction in terms, but no brand can escape the allure of the truck. Witness, then, the 2019 Lamborghini Urus, a singularly Italian take on what a performance SUV could look, sound, and drive like. After all, there’s not much out there that will deliver 650 horsepower and the ability to go off-road.
It’s not, of course, Lamborghini’s first SUV. That was the LM002, of which just 328 were produced between 1886 and 1993. Ambitions for the Urus are a little more aggressive, though: the automaker hopes to sell more than a thousand in the US in the first year alone.
To do that it’ll offer a blend of performance and practicality hitherto unseen in a vehicle with the raging bull on the hood. Seating for up to five – and space for their luggage – in a cabin that’s positively spacious compared to an Aventador, but the reassurance that you can do 0-62 mph in a mere 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph. The school run will never be the same again.
