2019 BMW 8 Series Convertible Gallery

BMW's luxury grand tourer has lost its head, and the result is this: the BMW 8 Series Convertible. Taking the coupe and replacing its hard roof with a soft-top convertible hood, the new car still seats four – and their four golf bags – and still packs no shortage of power. In the case of the 2019 BMW M850i xDrive Convertible, that means 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft from the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8.

0-60 mph arrives in 3.9 seconds, a mere 0.2 seconds slower than the lighter coupe. What the convertible adds is the ability to open the roof in 15 seconds, opening the luxurious cabin to the elements. A new optional comfort seat draws in cooled cabin air and distributes it along your body for maximum relaxation.

First to market will be the 2019 M850i xDrive Convertible, in March 2019. That'll be priced at $121,400 (plus $995 destination) putting the 8 Series up against potent rivals like the Audi R8 and Porsche 911.
