2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII Gallery

A new Rolls-Royce doesn't come along that often, and certainly not a new flagship. Welcome, then, the 2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII, the eighth iteration of the storied automaker's largest, most luxurious car. Built on an all-new aluminum platform, the car promises to be more cosseting, more refined, and – yes – a little more ostentatious than before.

Under the hood there's a new 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 engine, good for 563 HP. Peak torque – a heady 664 lb-ft. – arrives at just 1,700 rpm. However, don't be surprised if you can't hear it: Rolls-Royce's engineers have added masses of new noise insulation, promising the new Phantom is "the most silent motor car in the world."

That leaves you to focus on the all-new dashboard. Rolls-Royce calls it "The Gallery," a swathe of toughened glass within which bespoke artwork is embedded. Lavish? Certainly, but nothing more than you'd expect from this particular automaker.
