2018 MINI John Cooper Works Countryman Gallery

Behold, the most powerful production MINI ever, though it might not be the model you'd expect. The 2018 John Cooper Works Countryman isn't a MINI Coupe or even the convertible; instead, it's a practical four door that just so happens to have 228 HP. According to MINI, it'll do 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds.

That's 0.8 seconds faster than the MINI Cooper S Countryman ALL4, and it'll go all the way up to a top speed of 145 mph. It's courtesy of a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine which is good for 258 lb-ft. of torque, matched up to all-wheel drive. Bringing things to a halt is the Brembo sports brake system.

Outside, there's a full John Cooper Works aero kit and 18-inch light alloy wheels. Inside, seating for five and a 17.6 cubic foot trunk; the latter can be expanded to 47.6 cubic feet with the rear seats down. It'll go on sale in the US come April 2017.
