The 2017 Mazda CX-5 has some deep boots to fill. The newest version of what’s been Mazda’s best-selling car, the midsize SUV promises a quieter, more refined driving experience not to mention a fresh update on styling. On the latter front it certainly delivers, with what was already one of the most handsome cars in its segment looking crisp and clean with Mazda’s latest design language.
FWD and AWD versions are on offer, all using the same SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter engine and six-speed SKYACTIV-DRIVE automatic transmission. Three trim levels are available, kicking off with the CX-5 Sport and rising through the CX-5 Touring and finally the CX-5 Grand Touring. Mazda’s i-ACTIVSENSE package is an option.
Pricing kicks off at $24,045 for the front-wheel drive CX-5 Sport. A top-spec CX-5 Grand Touring AWD will set you back a still-reasonable $30,695; factor in a further $1,830 on top of that for the Premium Package. As for the fetching Soul Red Crystal paint job you see here, that’ll cost you $595 more.
