GMC announces 2017 Canyon Denali, the first mid-size premium truck

GMC's high-end luxury trucks and SUVs all carry the Denali badge and GMC is moving the Denali name into a new segment. The company has announced the 2017 Canyon Denali mid-size truck. The Canyon is the GMC version of the Chevy Colorado truck and adding the Denali name to the Canyon makes this the first premium truck in the mid-size segment.

The 2017 Canyon Denali has 20-inch bright-machined aluminum wheels with painted accents. On the exterior, the truck also has chrome fog lamp bezels, a five-inch rectangular chrome assist step, polished exhaust tip, and a spray-in bed liner.

GMC will offer the Denali in six exterior colors with all featuring black Mulan leather seats with the fronts perforated and ventilated. Canyon Denali will also get a unique instrument panel and console trim along with Denali-logo sill plated and floor mats. Standard tech features include Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning.

The steering wheel is heated and the truck gets GMC IntelliLink with navigation and an 8-inch diagonal touchscreen. OnStar 4G with hotspot, automatic climate control, remote vehicle start, and dual USB ports for charging round out the features. Canyon Denali can be purchased on crew cab models in two or four-wheel drive. Power is from the standard V6 with the 2.8L Duramax turbo-diesel optional. The 2017 GMC Canyon Denali will go on sale late in 2016.
