Glass Firmware Hints Future Features Including 3D Model Creation And Instrument Tuning
Google Glass was recently graced with another firmware update, something the folks over at Android Police have dug into for a detailed look. With this latest software comes hints of a slew of new features that Glass owners could expect to see in the future, among them being the ability to tune an instrument and create a 3D model.
A lot of the most interesting hidden features are found within the GlassVoice APK, among them being the aforementioned 3D modeling and instruments tuning, as well as the ability to check in at locations, find a recipe, learn a song, call a car, shoot a panorama, get a reminder, view a compass, initiate a bike ride or run, and more.
Some of these features would likely be used by apps, extending the ability of the device for developers who want to offer specific functionality with their apps (fitness features, tuning, recipe lookups, etc.). The 3D model creation feature is particularly interesting given the increasing proliferation of 3D printing technology.
The music playing ability of the device is also more developed in the latest firmware, with AP spotting things like Music Cards for album names and art, track names, and band/artist names, as well as a new radio icon. Given the radio icon, one must wonder if radio channels will be available on the device at some point. Beyond this, there are more changes to eye-gesture control, with Gaze showing a new double-blink functionality and a photography-centric wink option.
