Ghost of Tsushima makes its gameplay debut at E3 2018

It's been a little over half a year since Ghost of Tsushima was first revealed, and since then, we've seen very little of it. That all changed at Sony's E3 2018 press conference this evening, where Ghost of Tsushima got its gameplay reveal. In short, it looks like Sucker Punch's latest is going to be quite an intense one.

Sony was content with letting the trailer speak for itself, giving it little in the way of introduction and saying nothing about the game afterward. Still, we knew enough about the game going in to sort of understand what was going on. As we were told when Ghost of Tsushima was first revealed, the game is set during the first Mongol invasion of Japan in 1274 and is set on the island of Tsushima (at least, that seems to be a fair assumption given its title).

The gameplay trailer revealed today follows a lone samurai warrior – the player character – as he attempts to rescue a monk from his Mongol captors. Combat seems to be fairly slow paced, at least when compared to other third-person action games. The trailer also features its own self-contained twist, so look forward to that as you watch.

Even though Sony just delivered a nine-minute gameplay trailer for Ghost of Tsushima, there's still a lot we don't know about it. For as good as the trailer is, it didn't offer much information on its overarching story. For that matter, it didn't give any kind of hint about when we might expect the game to release. This trailer will have to do for now, but we'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more on Ghost of Tsushima as we move through the rest of 2018.
