Game of Thrones: Season 4 first trailer released ahead of April premiere

The first trailer of the fourth Game of Thrones season has been released, with the series slated to kick off on April 6. With the trailer we get a short look at what is sure to be an action-packed season of the popular fantasy series. There are nearly two minutes of season footage in this latest trailer, as well, giving a longer look at what’s coming than last season’s trailer offered.

In the trailer, we get a glimpse of dragon shadow and enough Lannisters for any kingdom, as well as Daenerys and some shots of a smug-looking King Joffrey. Accompanying the trailer is an apropos song — Feral Love by Chelsea Wolfe — that sets the tone for what will (crosses fingers) hopefully be a blast of a season. Tyrion is shown in handcuffs, at one point as well, quipping that he probably won’t talk his way out of the debacle.

A host of other haven’t-been-killed-off-yet characters make their own short appearances, some with some lines and most others without any. If you haven’t seen the other seasons yet, you’d be best advised to avoid watching the trailer, as a careful eye and a bit of putting two and two together will bring some spoilers your way.

At the conclusion of it all is a nice summary: “If you want justice, you’ve come to the wrong place.” If you’re excited for the upcoming season, you’re certainly not the only one. Late last year, word surfaced that Game of Thrones was the most pirated television show of 2013, holding fast to the title it earned back in 2012, as well. As such, the series beat out the piracy rates of massively popular Breaking Bad, and trumped The Walking Dead, as well, which came in at number three on the list.
