Galaxy S8 orders are shipping early at T-Mobile

T-Mobile customers who preordered the Samsung Galaxy S8 have been on the receiving end of a nice surprise: the carrier is shipping out the phones a handful of days earlier than it said it would. That's great news for those who can't wait to get ahold of the handset, and it's likely not an accident: the Uncarrier did the same thing with the Galaxy S7. It seems like a calculated — and very welcomed — move.

The entire thing started a couple days ago when T-Mobile customers reported receiving texts letting them know the Galaxy S8 shipments would kick off on April 19. That's not too far in the future, but five days can feel like a lifetime when you're waiting for something you really want. Now, just a couple days later, those same customers are reporting getting shipping notifications from T-Mobile advising them that their preorder Galaxy S8 has been shipped.

It's not entirely clear what day customers can expect their handset to arrive, as the T-Mobile notifications simply advise them that tracking info will be available within a couple of days. Until the tracking info updates with the actual details about the shipments — or someone reports receiving their phone — we're left guessing that they'll show up by the original shipment date.

Keep in mind that these notifications are automated, and usually are delivered to the customer when the shipping label to send the phone is created, but not necessarily when the phone is actually handed over to the postal service (UPS, in this case). So while the customers have received notices about the shipments, it could be an extra day before the phones are actually in transit.
