Galaxy Note 8 Gets Thrive App To Help Users Manage Their Time

Following an announcement a few months back, Samsung has launched the time-management app Thrive for Galaxy Note 8 owners. The app itself comes from Thrive Global, Arianna Huffington's company, and it aims to improve the quality of users' lives by helping them limit how much time is spent using their phone. Among other things, users can stop the majority of inbound notifications with the exception of important things.

According to Thrive Global, the Thrive app helps users live "a more focused and fulfilling life." This is made possible via features like Thrive Mode, which blocks notifications with the exception of texts and calls from people put on the user's VIP list. The app also offers Auto Reply, which alerts people not on the VIP list that you're not using the phone for now, as well as when they'll be able to contact you.

As well, Thrive offers App Control functionality, enabling users to choosing how much they want (or perhaps better put, don't want) to use any given app. Thrive monitors how much time is spend on that app, helping users realize where they may have an issue. It has an attractive interface, but the functionality isn't terribly original.

If you're a Galaxy Note 8 owner, you have access to a feature called "Do Not Disturb." Turning the feature on mutes calls, media, and alerts, though the user can choose exceptions to that. The feature also supports scheduling so that Do Not Disturb turns on and off at certain times automatically. This feature does not, however, monitor usage like Thrive does.

If you're a Galaxy Note 8 owner, you can now download Thrive from the Galaxy Apps store. If you're not a Galaxy Note 8 owner, you can still try out the app, though it may not work as intended. Head over to the Google Play Store and search for "Thrive." It is available to install, but is listed as unreleased and in development mode. You can try it out, but expect that it may be buggy.
