G-Tube Bluetooth waterproof speaker can survive the summer

The summer can be challenging for mobile devices with people going to the lake, beach, or pool. Water and electronics don't go well together typically so if you frequent wet areas you want gear that can survive. A new portable Bluetooth speaker has debuted called the G-Tube that is inside a ruggedized housing that is water resistant.

G-Tube is small and has 1.25-inch stereo speakers. The enclosure is IPX5 rated for water resistance. That means while you can't submerge the device, it will survive splashing from all angles. The ends of the enclosure are made from an elastomer to absorb shock if dropped.

Power comes from an internal rechargeable battery good for up to six hours of playback per charge. It can be recharged from any mobile phone charger; we can assume that means any Android mobile phone charger.

The portable speaker ships with a lanyard that allows you to hang it from a tree branch, bag, or backpack. G-Tube is available online right now for $40 and can be purchased in Target stores for the same price. If your device lacks Bluetooth, you can also connect to the G-Tube's 3.5mm input.
