FreedomPop launches refurbished iPhone 5 on its calling plans
FreedomPop is a company that offers free and very cheap calling plans to users that work over the top of data networks from other providers. It's like VoIP in the home only for mobile devices. FreedomPop has announced that it is now offering customers the ability to purchase refurbished iPhone 5 devices to use with its service.
Customers can purchase the iPhone 5 handset in what FreedomPop says is like-new condition for $349. Users wanting to get in on the FreedomPop action can also bring their own iPhones that are for the Sprint network. The service will work on Sprint iPhone 4, 4S, and iPhone 5 devices.
The free plan that FreedomPop offers has 200 voice minutes, 500 text messages, and 500MB of data per month. People needing more data can fork over a monthly fee for additional data and minutes with plans starting at $5 per month. Adding the iPhone is a big change for FreedomPop, until now the service worked with a few older Android devices.
FreedomPop also plans to add more options for Android fans that want newer devices than the Galaxy SII and HTV Evo 4G that it launched with. New Android devices are coming in the next few months. Those devices will include the Galaxy S III for under $200 and the Galaxy S4 for under $300. Both of those devices will be refurbished and like new. An app for iPhone users is coming soon with free voice, texting, and voicemail.
