Foxconn Lands Apple's iPhone Contract

Fancy an iPhone?  You do?  Well, you might be one step closer to getting one, if "industry sources" close to Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd (Known also as Foxconn) are to be believed.  Apparently they've won the contract to build twelve million shiny iPhones for Apple; newspaper The Commercial Times have suggested that the Cupertino trend-setters will release the long-awaited handset early next year, although financial details were conspicuous by their absence.  The most they know about the feature set is that it works both as a cellphone and as a music player – which can be said about just about every half-decent mobile on the market today.

These mysterious "industry sources", who obviously know a lot, have also fingered Hon Hai Precision as manufacturers of choice of the new 15-inch MacBook which could be available as early as next month or January 2007. The existing contract Apple has with Asustek, manufacturers of existing MacBook models, will continue unaffected.
