Fortnite v8.30 update will be huge: Here's what to expect

Fortnite players have been grumpy with Epic Games since the release of version 8.20, which brought substantial changes to the way the game worked. Players can no longer siphon health and materials after killing an opponent, something many players hope will be reversed in version 8.30. The update will be released early tomorrow morning and it will be huge.

Epic says it will released Fortnite version 8.30 at 2AM PT / 5AM ET on April 10. This is a typical release day and time for the company, but tomorrow's update will have one notable difference: it will be huge. Players who want to play as soon as possible should ensure their device is setup to auto-download the update.

The patch size will vary based on device, according to Epic, which explained today that it has made some 'technical improvements' in version 8.30 that resulted in the atypically large update files. Mobile players who have less than 6GB of free space available on their device will need to re-download Fortnite, according to the company.

For everyone, the patch update file sizes will be:

PC:6.93GB

Mac:7.7GB

PS4:3.9GB

Xbox:4.06GB

Switch:3.93GB

iOS: 1.14 – 1.76GB

Android: 1.56 – 2.98GB

Of course, we don't know what the update will bring, but Epic's announcement tweet (below) indicates that it will in some way involve batteries or power. Whether this is a reference to it restoring health siphoning is unclear, however.
