Fortnite Monopoly is a thing that exists and it's releasing next month

There's no doubt about it: Fortnite is one of the most popular games around. Just like Microsoft did with Minecraft, we can definitely expect Epic to license out the Fortnite brand in a variety of merchandising deals, and one of the first one of those was just announced. Later on this year, Fortnite will be getting its own Monopoly set.

As they (probably) say in the business, you know you've made it when they make a Monopoly set about you, so Fortnite's success can no longer be questioned. Epic worldwide creative director Donald Mustard revealed the set in a post to Twitter, and on the surface, it looks just like Monopoly with a Fortnite slant. However, a closer look at the image suggests that there are be some significant rule changes coming along with this edition of Fortnite.

Though all of the changes are hard to make out from the image alone, it's clear that the traditional Monopoly properties have been replaced by locations from Fortnite's in-game map. Money seems to have been replaced by HP, and there are apparently mechanics based around the storm and building. There's even an interesting, non-standard die seen in the image, so expect this version of Monopoly to be quite a bit different from what you're used to.

On top of all of that, it seems that the standard Monopoly player pieces have been replaced by cardboard character tokens that each depict a skin from the game. There are a lot of those too, which makes sense given the sheer number of skins that are available in Fortnite.

It's clear from this image alone that Monopoly's spin on Fortnite should be quite the unique experience, and Mustard promises that it's a lot of fun to play. We'll be able to find out how fun it is for ourselves next month, as Fortnite Monopoly is currently scheduled to hit stores on October 1.
