Ford California Special Mustang returns for 2019 model year

Ford has announced that another of its legendary special edition Mustangs will return for the 2019 model year. The California Special is making a come back and will be offered with some cool special touches that fans will appreciate. One of the key features of the California special since the '60s has been the blacked-out grill and that is featured on the 2019 model.

The front of the car also gets the splitter from the Performance Pack 1 for the GT. The California Special also has the fading stripe on the side from the 5.0 badge to the rear fender scoop that is part of the package. California Special buyers will also get unique 5-spoke painted machined wheels.

Inside the car is special black Miko suede-trimmed seats that are embossed with the GT/CS insignia and have contrasting red stitching. The package also includes special GT/CS embroidered floor mats. The passenger-side dash panel also has California Special script badging.

The Mustang GT has 460hp and 420 lb-ft 5.0L V8 for 2019 and this is the same engine in the California Special. When buyers opt for a V8 GT with the 6-speed manual and available Performance Package, the transmission gets rev-match shifting as well.

Ford will offer new colors for the 2019 Mustang including Velocity Blue, Need for Green, and the 2019 Mustang Bullitt exclusive Dark Highland Green color. 2019 EcoBoost buyers will get variable active valve performance exhaust that came to the GT last year. The 2019 Mustang will go on sale this summer.
