Flyte Levitating light bulb floats and creates light

There are plenty of ways to light a room from overhead lighting to lamps sitting on the floor. Perhaps the coolest way ever made to light a room is the Flyte levitating light bulb. The bulb floats over the baseboard using magnetic levitation.

Flyte was designed in Sweden and is made using sustainable wood like oak, ash, and walnut. The bulb uses energy efficient LED lighting that is good for 50,000 hours of life. That means you could run this light 12 hours a day for 11 years without burning out.

The glass around the LEDs is shatterproof and inside the wooden base is a wireless power transmitter and an electromagnet. The base of the bulb has the wireless power receiver. The standard version of Flyte uses normal square pieces of wood for the base.

A premium version of the device has angles on the wooden face of the base. The project is on Kickstarter now seeking $80,000 and has raised over $110,000. You can get a Flyte light for $249 or more with shipping estimated for October 2015. The Flyte premium device with the faceted base sells for $529 or more.
