Even Google's search results aren't safe from Thanos

Avengers: Endgame is now upon us, and it seems like everyone is sharing in the hype this time. Fortnite has launched yet another Avengers crossover event, Trello has released a drone that looks like Iron Man, and now even Google is getting in on the fun. If you pop over to Google and search for "Thanos" today, you'll be greeted by a very neat Avengers-themed Easter egg.

Before we go any further, you should know that this article will contain major spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War (not Endgame), because it's unavoidable in talking about what the Easter egg does. If you haven't seen last year's Avengers flick yet, you should stop reading now, and definitely don't go looking for this Easter egg.

Now that the warning is out of the way, searching Google for "Thanos" will return a mostly normal page of search results, with one key addition: the Infinity Gauntlet has appeared in the right side information panel on the Mad Titan. Click or tap on that Infinity Gauntlet to watch Thanos snap his fingers, complete with accompanying dramatic sound effects.

If you've seen Infinity War, you know what happens next. Half of your search results turn to dust one-by-one, leaving you with a half-empty page where links to webpages and videos once were. You can click the Infinity Gauntlet again to bring your search results back by way of the Time Stone, undoing the destruction you've just wrought on your web browser.

As far as Google's many Easter eggs are concerned, it's clear that a lot of work went into this one. In the end, it's a nice little call out to the long-running Marvel Cinematic Universe, the third phase of which is wrapping up with Avengers: Endgame. The movie is in theaters today, so the wait for a resolution is finally over. Are you seeing Endgame this weekend? Head down to the comments section and let us know!
