Dropcam and more now work with Nest

At this year's CEDIA expo, Nest has announced support for a bunch of new products, Dropcam among them. This expands the number of products the company's Nest Learning Thermostats and Nest Protect smoke detectors can work with, further increasing the connectivity found inside one's home.

Dropcam isn't the only addition with which Nest's products will work, also being joined by Universal Remote Control, Crestron, Remote Technologies Incorporated, and Control4. With the addition of these, Nest's products can be drawn into the already established system in one's home, better unifying things.

With the addition of Dropcam to Works with Nest, as an example, the camera can be used to automatically record motion after the Nest Thermostat is set to Away. In the same way, it can also be used to record if the Nest Protect goes off, making a video copy of whatever goes down.

This follows the recent announcement that Nest is coming to the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, and France. Not familiar with these products? We've a few different Dropcam reviews (check out the Dropcam HD, for example), as well as a roster of Nest information in our related tag portal.
