Dropbox apps for Windows 10 PCs and tablets unveiled

Dropbox has announced an expanded partnership with Microsoft that has resulted in a new Windows 10 app designed specifically for tablets and PCs. The new Windows 10 app will be available in the Windows Store some time very soon, and will bring with it a variety of expected and improved features for searching, sharing, and storing, among other things.

Dropbox and Microsoft announced the expanded partnership and new Dropbox app in a statement today, with Microsoft's Steve Guggenheimer saying, "With the arrival of Dropbox, Windows 10 fans have easy and convenient access to photos, documents, and files anytime, anywhere."

According to Dropbox, the new Windows 10 app allows files to be dragged and dropped directly from the Windows File Explorer window into the Dropbox app, expediting the storing process. Even better, the feature allows for sharing between folders within those windows.

Other features include Quick Search, which allows users to simply start typing without clicking the search icon to get results. There are interactive notifications for accepting folders that have been shared sans opening the actual app, and a Windows Hello that can be enabled for using biometrics to unlock the Dropbox app. Finally, there is commenting directly on files and a Jump List for quick access to recent files in the task bar.
