Disney+ on Android launches early for the Netherlands

At long last, Disney finally announced its long-rumored video streaming service to rival Netflix and other VOD businesses last month. It's still quite a while before it formally launches to initial markets, which leaves plenty of time for more tidbits to fall from the rumor grapevine. Pretty soon, however, we can get first-hand information as the app has reportedly launched in the Netherlands where lucky testers can try out the service for free at least for two months.

Disney+'s confirmation was received with mixed sentiments. For some, it was just a long-overdue new business for the company. For others, it came up short of expectations, especially when it came to original programming. Of course, fans of the company's franchises, especially its Marvel properties, are eagerly awaiting the launch in November.

For one reason or another, it seems that Dutch fans are getting dibs on the service. Disney+ trials might be expanding to other markets as well but, at least for now, the app and the service are limited to the Netherlands. It won't be surprising to see

The app itself isn't exactly revolutionary and looks like any other video streaming service's mobile app. The navigation drawer is located at the bottom, with tabs for searching, downloading, and account management. Given Disney has quite a few studios under its name, the app also features shortcuts to Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars collections.

Although it hasn't been officially confirmed yet, it is presumed that Dutch users will be able to test the service all the way until November 12. That's when Disney+ will officially launch and when that happens, subscribers will be charged a fee of $7 per month to get access to digital content, both old, new, and still to come.
