Dell Ubuntu Not Really A Money-Saving Venture
So everyone knows that selecting the Ubuntu OS on any Dell lowers the price by at least $50. Until recently, everyone in the IdeaStorm community thought that was great.
Turns out that choosing a Microsoft OS apparently gets you about $275 worth of free hardware upgrades. Well that kind of shoots down the OSS being cheaper thing, not by a little, but by $225.

The differences in the example were on the Dell Inspiron 1420N. On the Windows based machine there were two free upgrades available, to 2GB RAM and a 160GB HDD.
