Cooler Master unveils Choiix Power Fort external battery

Cooler Master is mostly known for its line of cool computer cases. The company has unveiled a new external battery pack that is designed to give extra run time to just about any portable device that uses USB to charge. The product is called the Choiix Power Fort 5.5 Whr.

The small battery pack is about the size of the iPhone and has a 1A USB charge port on the bottom that will work with all sorts of devices like GPS, PDAs, mobile phones, and it should support the iPad as well. When you plug in a GPS device Cooler Master claims you get about 6 hours of extra run time. Smartphones get another eight hours of use and iPods can go an extra 48 hours.

The device is very slim and portable and the internal 5.5Whr battery can be recharged up to 300 times with 85% of its total capacity remaining. Recharging of the battery inside the device is done with a mini USB port from your computer or a wall AC outlet with an adapter. Pricing and availability are unknown.
