Comcast X1 gets Ticketmaster for finding and buying concert tickets

Comcast has teamed up with Ticketmaster to bring concert ticket purchases directly to the Xfinity X1 system. The new feature is available to subscribers with the Xfinity X1 service, enabling them to view concert tour dates and, if they find one they like, request tickets for it through their TV. The system integrates purchasing and utilizes a text message code that is used to finalize the purchase online.

The new feature is available to Xfinity X1 customers starting today, and it is specifically hawking the 2019 "Meaning of Life" tour with Kelly Clarkson. Customers can use the system's Voice Remote to pull up a specific concert tour, getting venue locations and performance dates directly on the big (home) screen.

The concert dates are joined by a "Get Tickets" option, that of course being powered by Ticketmaster's platform. Customers can choose to initiate the ticket purchasing process directly from their television, which will ask the customer if they'd like to receive a text message with a code to finish the purchase online.

Though Comcast and Ticketmaster are currently pushing the aforementioned Kelly Clarkson tour, Comcast says the ticketing integration will be applied to other concerts and events, as well. A similar feature is already available with Fandango, which enables Xfinity X1 customers to look up showtimes for movies and initiate the ticket buying process.
