CCTV Security: Siemens Steps Into The Frame
It was only a couple of weeks ago that we covered IBM's Smart Surveillance System, software which can analyse multiple information sources such as CCTV, audio and chemical detection to piece together a cross-referenced security review, and now Siemens would like to present its alternative. Sistore CX EDS is a package of cameras and computer software that can construct its own algorithms as to what "normal" activity usually is in a store or public place, then compares behaviours to that norm. Anything out of the ordinary and an alarm is sounded, while the system tracks the suspected individual using other cameras.
Sistore will get a baptism of fire come the Asian Games held in Doha; the event, held in the first two weeks of December, will be monitored by 1300 cameras all networked to the security system, able to be controlled either in person or remotely via the internet.
