Carpool Karaoke: The Series first episode now on Apple Music

When "Carpool Karaoke" first debuted on James Corden's run in The Late Show, it was more like a whimsical, occasional skit that brought no small amount of smiles to viewers. Sensing a potential hit, Apple has taken that and turned it into an original series of its own. Did Apple succeed in giving the concept a life of its own or did it ruin it forever? You can now judge for yourself, with the first episode now out on Apple Music.

For those just catching up now, Carpool Karaoke previously paired Corden with a surprise guest in side a car, where the two drive off to talk and sing about anything under the sun. The spontaneity of the interactions, the comical conversations, and sometimes the cringing attempts at singing, helped turn it into a trend.

Last year, Apple bought the rights to produce a whole original series around it, with Corden still at the helm as executive producer. Apple has listed artists that they have "invited" on the road trip, a list that includes Queen Latifah, Shakira, Sophie Turner, Trevor Noah, Alicia Keys, Jada Pinkett Smith, LeBron James, and more. For the pilot episode, Apple has paired Alicia Keys and John Legend, so expect some quality singing right form the get go.

But it doesn't stop there. Carpool Karaoke: The Series also pairs Metallica with comedian Billy Eichner for a good dose of rough fun:

Carpool Karaoke: The Series will be exclusive to Apple Music, with each episode released every Tuesday in still unknown order. If you're just curious how this new Apple series will fare (in contrast to the Planet of the Apps), you can avail of the three-month free trial for the subscription before opting to pay $10 a month.
