The market leader in digital still imaging, Canon USA has put their expertise to work on networked video monitoring camera. The newly announced Canon VB-C60 features a pan, tilt, zoom wide angle lens network camera with an ultra-long 40x Optical Zoom with Image Stabilization.

The monitoring camera uses a high-sensitivity progressive-scan CCD, an advanced auto focus system and the proprietary Canon DIGIC NET processor to ensure a crystal sharp and clear recording at high quality VGA (640×480) resolution video in 30fps. The high performance hardware-based image processing and encoding has enough juice to handle both Motion-Jpeg and MPEG-4 video capturing simultaneously. Other features help to maximize recording clarity like Smart Shade Control and Auto day/Night switch.

Also available on the VB-C60 is Motion Detection with user pre-set parameters, full-duplex audio communication, IPv6 and IPsec network protocol, IEEE 802.3af standard for Power over Ethernet to eliminate the use of extra AC outlets. The camera comes bundled with one license of VK-Lite Network Video Monitoring & Recording software for a suggested retail of $1,699. Optional software upgrade is also available for an additional $2,499 for VK-64/VK-16 Version 2.0, and $999 for VK-16 Version 2.0.
