Bulbing lineup expands with new optical illusion lamps

Bulbing Lamps, for those unfamiliar, are trippy 3D-printed lamps that use an optical illusion to produce unique, somewhat mind-bending lighting arrangements. The design company behind the lamps, Studio Cheha, saw ample success with its first array of Bulbing Lamps, and due to popular demand it has launched its newest lineup. Says the maker, its new Bulbing offerings are "classically designed" and entirely refined.

Bulbing lamps are lighting devices that feature a centermost post and a 3D-printed "lampshade", which is designed to look — when illuminated by the light — like a 3D object. It is, however, flat, which you'll see when looking at it from the side rather than straight on. It is a fun conversation piece, and also an excellent way to light up a bookshelf or desk without taking up a bunch of room or sacrificing style.

The new lineup is comprised of the CLASSi, ZIGGi, and DESKi. The latter of the bunch, as you may have guessed, is a reading light for use on your desk or similar places. ZIGGi has a more retro appearance described as "cool [and] calm". CLASSi, finally, is "bold and bright" with a more traditional lampshade design (featured in the main image above). You can see each one in action in the video above.

Studio Cheha was seeking the equivalent of $22,784 USD on Kickstarter, where it has so far raised more than $89,000 USD with 26 days remaining. The early bird batches have already been sold out, but there are still second-batch options remaining, the price for which varies from about $72 USD to $77 USD depending on model. Shipping is estimated to start this upcoming February.
