BMW's all-new 2019 M5 Competition starts production in July

BMW has unveiled the all-new 2019 M5 Competition sedan. The big beast of a car will start production in July and will carry a starting MSRP of $110,995 including destination. BMW has fitted the M5 Competition with a TwinPower Turbo engine that offers 617 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque.

Peak torque for the big V8 is made between 1,800 and 5,960 rpm. BMW says that the M5 competition can go from 0 to 60mph in 3.1 seconds. After 10.8-seconds goes by the M5 Competition will have hit 124 mph making it 0.3 seconds faster than the normal M5.

The car is fitted with a special M Sports exhaust to give it improved sound and faster turbo response. That exhaust has flaps that control the sound and features various engine modes. The exhaust has black chrome finishers on the back. Special suspension tuning makes the M5 Competition handle better with increased spring rates for better handling.

The car features M xDrive all-wheel drive to give better grip and acceleration. Power from the engine goes to the ground via an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission and the car has an Active M Differential that controls torque distribution. That all-wheel-drive system is rear biased.

Brakes are six-piston fixed calipers and perforated and vented brake disks. Optional M carbon-ceramic brakes can be added for lower weight, better thermal stability, and increased resistance to wear. BMW uses M light-alloy wheels that are 20-inches with 275/35R 20 front and 285/35R 20 rear tires.
