Blu-ray wasn't big enough to hold Metal Gear Solid 4

It's no secret that one of the biggest selling points of the PS3 is the Blu-ray drive. Not only does it allow you to play high-def movies, but it also ensures that game developers won't be limited by the size of the media they're forced to use. After all, what game is going to fill up a 50GB disc? Apparently Metal Gear Solid 4 does.

When I say it fills the disc, I mean they squeezed every last bit of information that they possibly could onto that disc. Remind me again why we won't be seeing MGS4 on the 360. Check out this excerpt from an interview with Kojima Productions producer Ryan Payton and Famitsu.

Kojima: For us, we're not still not satisfied with the quality we can do. You know, there's not capacity space.
Interviewer: Wait, wait a sec. Saying there's not enough capacity, are you talking about Blu-ray?Kojima: That's correct. There's not enough space at all. (laughs) ...There's not enough space. We always talked about where to cut and what to compress.
